teach2talk’s™ Social Skills! series helps teach children appropriate social behaviors through the use of targeted video modeling.
Volume 2 of our Social Skills! series, Conversations with Friends,
focuses on skills which are difficult to master for many children –
joining in conversations and activities with their peers – by modeling
appropriate ways to initiate and maintain conversations and participate
in activities in a variety of scenarios and settings, and by
incorporating humor and songs to keep children engaged and provide
additional reinforcement.
In addition to helping teach children how to initiate both one-on-one and with groups of their peers, Conversations with Friends also helps teach children appropriate language.
This video is appropriate for children of all ages and developmental
levels, whether as an introduction to the concept of initiating and
maintaining conversations or as a reinforcer or refresher.
Conversations with Friends can also be used as an effective
teaching tool in a therapy setting by showing two children a scenario
and then pausing the video and asking the children to immediately model
appropriate behaviors through role playing.
teach2talk™ Co-Founder Jenny McCarthy, Mom:
One of my biggest concerns with Evan was whether he was going to be able
to talk and interact with other kids. Would he ever respond to
questions from his playmates and classmates? Would I ever be able to
take him to a play date? Well, it turns out that he is extremely social
- he now initiates, maintains conversations, and interacts with other
children! And he loves to have playdates! Many children need a little
extra help to learn these skills, and Conversations with Friends can help teach them.
teach2talk™ Co-Founder Sarah Clifford Scheflen, M.S., CCC-SLP, Speech Language Pathologist:
Initiating and having conversations is difficult for many children. In
my practice, I have had success teaching children how to have
conversations through the use of video modeling, and many of my clients
have learned how to talk and interact with their friends using this
technique when others were not successful. My clients really enjoy
watching the other children interacting and Conversations with Friends helps give them the tools they need to start initiating and having conversations with their friends.
